I’ve recently been introduced to the website, ‘Olives, The Taste of Spain‘ which dedicates itself to raising the profile of the humble Spanish olive. I personally believe that a bowl of olives and a G&T (and possibly a parmesan breadstick) can solve anything, so I really enjoyed navigating this website and testing some of their … Continue reading »

A very British Hamper from Forman & Field
So we are being told that the Summer is finally on its way. It has to be right? I’m so desperate for its warming pimms encouraging happy glow that I’m going to force myself to believe it. Maybe if I don’t check the weather forecast between now and Tuesday it really will hit 29c and … Continue reading »
Mexican Food with Thomasina Miers at Wahacas, Westfield, Stratford
Anyone who’s come to ours for dinner before will be familiar with Thomasina Miers’ guacamole and tomato salsa recipes as we serve them for starters all the time. We make them in abundance, serve them with chips made out of deep fried tortillas and stuff our faces until there’s no room for mains. Im sure … Continue reading »
Merchant Gourmet Harissa Couscous with Peppers, Halloumi & Tahini
Sometimes you need a filling but healthy lunch to get you through the day, even better if you can prepare it quickly and without fuss. I was recently sent some Merchant Gourmet couscous to try, and it inspired me to make exactly that. I’m always a little dubious about the idea of a ‘ready meal’, … Continue reading »
Valentines Chocolate Pot, with cherries in brandy, pistachio cream & brandy snap
Some love Valentines day, some hate it. The way to tackle it for me, whether single or taken, is with chocolate. This Valentines chocolate pot is big enough for two and has delightful layers of smooth, rich chocolate, boozy sweet cherries, fluffy pistachio cream and crunchy homemade brandy snaps Continue reading »
Recipe for Pasta with Crispy Kale and Shallow Fried Capers
This mid-week dish is a winner thanks to its simplicity. It is a perfect base that can be adapted to fit with what you have in the fridge- the main ingredients being some left over chicken stock boiled up from the bones of my Sunday Roast, half a bag of left over wintry greens, in this … Continue reading »
The Best Burgers at Home; Following the Hawksmoor Recipe
The burgers were absolutely to die for: rich, moist and pink with the tastiest juices dripping from the great layer of meat into the soft, sweet and bouncy brioche. The cheese was awesome, perfect for melting with a similar texture to American processed cheese but with a richer, fruitier finish. The lettuce gave the whole thing just the right amount of crunch and both the onion and the cucumber added a lovely bite of acidity. Do it, just cook them as soon as you can. Continue reading »
Simple Supper of Heritage Beetroot and Oak Roasted Salmon
This is a simple supper that lets all of the brilliant ingredients sing. The earthy, rich, sweet Heritage Beetroots and succulent Oak Roasted salmon are a match made in heaven and the tangy horseradish sharpens the whole dish up. Heritage Beets are beautiful to look at, they are versatile and very easy to prepare. The … Continue reading »
Sunday Brunch Recipe of Welsh Rarebit
Oozing smokey cheese, tart worcester sauce, subtlely hot mustard, rich stout and crunchy spring onions, melting into and dripping off crispy bread. This is what Sunday mornings are made for. I don’t know much about the history of Welsh rarebit or what the classic recipe entails, all I’m sure of is that I want to … Continue reading »
Recipe for Slow Cooked Pork Cheeks with Apple and Mustard
I got really mixed reactions when I went back to work with six pork cheeks, some people couldn’t bear to look in the bag for fear of what a pig’s cheek might actually look like, others were excited about the cooking I had ahead of me; my boyfriend on the other hand was thrilled that … Continue reading »
Recipe for Welsh Blackberry and Custard Crumble Tarts
Picking blackberries on a late Summers day is a complete delight, especially when you have a fella with you to hold back the stinging nettles and protect you from the thorns. I remember trundling just down the road from our childhood house and picking them with my Grandma, (making sure we only took them from … Continue reading »
Recipe for Griddled Corn Cakes
This week I’ve decided to make new things that put me out of my comfort zone. I’ve never cooked with polenta before, but salivate at the thought of Ottolenghi’s Sage and Parmesan version I ate at Nopi. I decided to get over my fear and pull out the packet that’s been in my cupboard ever … Continue reading »
Arancini Brothers Risotto Balls
I was wondering around the lovely ‘Real Food Market‘ at the Southbank on Bank holiday Monday and was drawn to the Arancini Bros stall. Arancini balls originate from Sicily and are fried risotto balls. Some brave man was about to embark on eating the colossal ‘Big Bad Wrap’; eight arancini squashed into a wheat wrap … Continue reading »
Mike’s Homemade Habenero Sauce
(This is a guest post from CrumpEat’s chilli obsessed better other half) Ever since a friend bought me a tiny bottle of the South Devon Chilli Farm’s ‘Habanero Sauce’ I’ve been sloshing the stuff on everything, on-top of pasta, drizzled over cheese on toast, a few drops in some burger mince, or salsas, or tacos, … Continue reading »
Lizzie Crump’s Easter chicken with roasted veg, minted potato salad & coleslaw
My sister is a fabulous cook, she’s always fed me tasty, healthy and creative feasts, and this year when she presented me with my ‘Birthday Tortilla’ I was delighted. As a welcome diversion from the overdose of cake I’ve been eating recently, she topped the butternut squash, grated courgette and cumin ‘little torta’ with candles … Continue reading »
Smokey Spring Lamb with Flagolet beans
Now Spring is properly here I’ve started really playing with a whole new bunch of sunny, bright, bbq flavours and searching the markets and supermarkets for what the new season has brought to the store and brought down in price! Last week I stumbled across some bargain British lamb leg, and knew that it would … Continue reading »
O’Shea’s Beef & Guinness Sausages with Baileys Mash
Eating sausages from the esteemed O’Shea’s butchers is like eating steak. Good steak, chopped up, mixed with some earthy ingredients and hearty herbs and put back together again. And why? Because that’s what their sausages are about. They are 100% top quality Black Angus beef from South West Ireland where the cattle has been grass … Continue reading »
Spicy Chicken Stew with Pomegranate Molasses
I’ve been reading a lot about pomegranate molasses in Middle Eastern (particularly Persian) cooking and wanted to jump on the sticky, sweet band wagon. Mollasses are the by product of processing sugar cane or sugar beets into sugar and pomegranate molasses are a reduction of pomegranate juice and sugar that results in a thick, fragrant … Continue reading »
Spring sprung at my Birthday Picnic, recipes by Jamie Oliver
It was my birthday yesterday and me and my boyfriend went off on a jaunt to Epping Forest, the largest piece of open public green space in London. Stepping off the train in Chingford and ambling to the entrance of the ancient forest we felt like we had truly escaped London, however London hadn’t escaped … Continue reading »
Chilli Chocolate Truffles a la Thomasina Miers
It’s Valentines and if that’s not an excuse to gorge on delicious chocolatey treats then I don’t know what is. We can use the same excuse as Christmas, ‘it only happens once a year’, ‘go on treat yourself’, ‘you can do it, you’re with the ones you love’. Well I’m sold. I decided to make … Continue reading »
